Welcome to my third blog. In this blog I will be talking about the sea food of Maharashtra.

What kind of seafood can you expect in Maharashtra?

  1. Rawas (Indian Salmon)
  2. Katla (Indian Carp or Bengal Carp)
  3. Rohu (Rohu or Carpo Fish)
  4. Bangda (Indian Mackerel)
  5. Rani (Pink Pearch)
  6. Surmai (King Fish/Seer Fish)
  7. Paplet (Pomfret)
  8. Hilsa (Pala)

  10. Chimbori (Crabs)
  11. Halva (Black Pomfret)
  12. Bombil (Bombay Duck)
  13. Kalva (Mussels)

Must try seafood delicacies of Maharashtra are:

1. Bombil Rava Masala Fry

A lot of you may know that the common name for Bombil is Bombay Duck. However, Bombil is very much a fish and a very soft one at that. In Maharashtra, one of the most beloved Bombil preparations is Rava Masala Bombil fry, in which the bombil fish is marinated and rubbed in semolina before it is fried in hot oil.

2. Fish Kolivada

A delicious Konkani recipe replete with hot spices. In this fish fry recipe, fish is marinated in thick batter and then fried. You can serve it with rice and any gravy item. It will definitely help enliven the fare.

3. Bangdyachi Uddamethi

This classic preparation comprises Mackarel or Bangda fish which is cooked in a coconut-onion based gravy which is also flavoured with urad dal and fenugreek seeds.

4. Malvani Fish Curry

This fantastic Malvani fish curry made with Malvani masala is one of the hottest and smoothest curries you will ever have. The earthy undertones, make it all the more tempting.

5. Kolambi Che Kalvan ( Maharashtrian Prawns Curry )

This traditional, tangy, sharp shrimp curry is an iconic preparation across Konkan coast. Pair it with steaming, hot rice and you are good to go.

6. Chimbori Masala

Crab Masala is a fragrant medley of spices and aromatics. Its spicy punch is set off deliciously by the sweet crab meat.

7. Kalva Pulao

Kalva pulao is basically a rice dish with aromatic spices and mussels.

8. Tisrya Sukka

Tisrya sukka is a mildly spiced semi dry coconut based gravy.

So guys this is it for Maharashtra see ya'll soon in the next blog...
